Ask Claude about the tide
Connect TidalMap to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor and ask in plain words: "Is the tide coming in at Bogue Inlet?" "When is the next negative low at Harkers Island before 9 am?" "Will Saturday be fishable off Beaufort?" "Is the river up and is Fontana releasing?" Your assistant gets the captain's answer: the right station, how far it is, how old the reading is, and the time in station-local time with UTC beside it.

What it can answer
| Tool | The question |
|---|---|
find_spot | Where is this place, and which tide station describes it? |
tide_at | Is the tide rising or falling here, how far through the swing, next highs and lows, the live level and its age. |
conditions_at | Wind, waves, water and air temperature right now, from the station a captain would trust. |
find_conditions | When is the next negative low, big swing, or flood window, up to 60 days out, inside a time-of-day window. |
forecast_at | Hour by hour wind, gusts, waves, sky and rain chance for up to 72 hours, model named per hour. |
river_at | River flow and stage with trend and percentile, the stage forecast, dam releases within 40 km, flood products. |
hazards_at | Local Notices to Mariners nearby, active marine and weather alerts, Coast Pilot advisories. |
offshore_at | Sea-surface temperature at a spot, the nearest isotherms, and the temperature breaks with distance and bearing. |
trip_brief | I am fishing this spot at this time: tide, conditions now, the hourly forecast for the trip, alerts and notices, nearest launches, and what is degraded, in one call. |
tide_calendar | A month of predicted highs and lows, day by day, station-local with UTC beside each. |
tide_chart, forecast_chart | A picture to show: the tide curve with highs, lows and the live level; hourly wind, gusts, direction, rain and sky. PNG plus a summary. |
launches_near | Where can I put in? Boat ramps and access points near a spot with lanes, docks, trailer parking, surface and address where the state publishes them. |
shops_near | Fly shops, tackle stores, guides and outfitters that partner with TidalMap near a spot. A sponsored list, and the answer says so. |
service_status | Is anything degraded or down right now? Feature-level health for tides, live water levels, conditions, each forecast, radar, rivers, dams and hazards, in plain words. Also public, no sign-in, at /mcp/status. |
embed_widget | Builds the TidalMap embed for a shop's website: the tide map, a weather station or the tide card, with layer defaults for the kind of business, the stations it will show, the snippet and install steps for WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, React, Next.js or plain HTML. |
Building a website for a fly shop, tackle store or marina? Ask your assistant to "add a TidalMap tide map for our shop" and it will
call embed_widget and write the snippet into the site. The widgets themselves are free and need no account; see
Embed.
Every tool takes a place name or coordinates and answers for US coastal waters, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Hawaii and Alaska, plus inland rivers and lakes with USGS gauges. Sources are NOAA CO-OPS, NDBC, NWS, NWPS, CoastWatch, USGS, TVA, the Army Corps and the Coast Guard.
Checked against the agencies
After every release we ask the live server real questions at ten coastal spots, three rivers and five offshore points, and check each answer against NOAA, USGS and NWS directly: the next high or low must match the NOAA table to the minute, river flow must agree with the USGS gauge, every notice must sit inside its radius.

Not for navigation
Everything the assistant relays carries the same notice as the app. Predictions are astronomical and ignore wind, pressure and river flow. Verify against the live level and local notices before you launch.
